Notice of cancellation/revocation of Article 4 Directions
An article 4 direction under the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015 (as amended) enables the local planning authority to withdraw specified permitted development rights across a defined area.
Government guidance explains that an article 4 direction can remain in place permanently once it has been confirmed. However, it is important for local planning authorities to monitor any article 4 directions regularly to make certain that the original reasons the direction was made remain valid. Where an article 4 direction is no longer necessary, it can be cancelled.
Following review of the 10 article 4 directions within the borough it is deemed by the Council that they are no longer necessary. The article 4 directions are summarised below with links provided to the direction:

Full explanation of the reasoning for the cancellation of each direction will be provided in a report to the Planning Applications Committee scheduled for November 2026.
In accordance with the legislation the Council has published a local notice, including displaying site notices, and notified affected parties affected by the removal.
