Surrey Heath Borough Council is the Licensing Authority under the Town Police Clauses Act 1847 and the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976 responsible for regulating the hackney carriage and private hire trades operating in the Borough. This policy sets out the principles we will use when dealing with hackney carriage and private hire vehicles; hackney carriage and private hire vehicle drivers and private hire operators.
