Report an emergency incident

Useful contacts for reporting emergency incidents, including flooding, power cuts, fallen trees, dangerous structures and suspected terrorism.

You can contact us by phone from Monday to Thursday between 9am and 4:30pm, and Friday, between 9am and 4pm. If you need urgent help outside these hours, please refer to the out-of-hours guidance for the service you need.

Dangerous structure 

To report an unsafe structure during working hours, visit the Surrey Heath Building Control Consultancy website.

If you consider the danger to be immediate and it is outside of working hours, please call 01276 707100 and you will be directed to the out of hours service.

Homelessness

If you have a homelessness query during working hours, please call 01276 707100.

Out of hours homelessness enquires are managed by Mole Valley Telecare. If you have a housing emergency, please call 0300 123 7719. More information can be found on the homelessness support webpage.

Noise and nuisance

You can report out of hours noise on the noise and nuisance webpage. These will be referred to Environmental Health on the next working day.

Pest control

Book a pest control treatment for rats, mice, wasps, bedbugs, fleas and cockroaches in domestic premises on the book a pest control webpage.

Power cuts

If you experience a power cut:

  • visit UK Power Networks: Powercut and type in your postcode to view a live power cut map
  • call 105 free of charge from a landline or mobile phone to report a power cut or damage to the electricity network
  • visit Power Networks for the latest updates 

Stay clear of power lines. Electricity lines that are down or causing significant risk to the public should be reported to 999.

Priority Service Register

The Priority Service Register provides extra help to those registered during a power cut.  Visit Power Networks Priority Service for more information and how to register.

Stray dogs

To report a stray dog during working hours, visit the lost and stray dog webpage.

To report a stray dog outside of working hours, please call 01276 707100 and you will be directed to the out of hours service.

Street cleaning problem

Report street cleaning issues on the Joint Waste Solutions website.

Suspected terrorism

Call the anti-terrorist hotline: 0800 789 321 to report something suspicious or visit GOV.UK: Report suspicious activity to MI5.

Call 999 in an emergency.

Non-emergencies

Call 101 to report a non-emergency crime or contact Surrey Police online

Trees

If you need to report a fallen, damaged or dangerous tree, please check who is responsible for dealing with it before reporting. 

Trees on highways

If a tree is on a highway verge, blocking a road or creating another emergency situation, Surrey Highways is responsible.  Call the Surrey County Council Contact Centre on 0300 200 1003 or report a fallen tree online.

Trees on private land

If a tree is on private land (such as front or back garden), the owner of the land is responsible for the tree.  

If the tree has fallen across the road, you can report to Surrey County Council Highways (details above).   

Trees on Surrey Heath Borough Council land

Trees on Surrey Heath Borough Council-owned land include trees in:

  • council-run car parks
  • commons, heathland and countryside sites
  • open spaces, parks and recreation grounds
