Providing the plan is compatible with EU obligations make the plan part of the Surrey Heath Development Plan. This would be done via the Executive and Council meetings.

Assuming a positive referendum result, the Council will adopt the neighbourhood plan as part of the Surrey Heath Development Plan.

Make application to Surrey Heath Borough Council for designation as a neighbourhood area.
Preparing a draft plan
Gather evidence and consult with the local community in order to start to put together a draft plan.
Pre-submission publicity and consultation
Publicise the draft plan and invite representation.
Submit the plan to the Council
Submit the plan, check it complies with legislation and publicise.
Independent examination
Send plan, representations and supporting documents to examiner.
Referendum
Publicise and undertake referendum.
