A flag raising ceremony took place on Monday 23 June 2025 outside Surrey Heath House in recognition of Armed Forces Day on Saturday 28 June 2025.
The Mayor of Surrey Heath, Councillor Louise Ashbery said: “It is a very great honour to be here with you all today to recognise the important of Armed Forces Day and give our thanks to the contribution made by our service personnel to our country.”
Councillor Leanne MacIntyre – Surrey Heath Borough Council’s Military Champion also spoke at the event sharing her experiences of serving as a reservist and as a military wife and the challenges military families face due to the separation and uncertainties of military service.
Lieutenant Colonel O'Connor from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) shared his experiences of military service and commended the strong links Surrey Heath has with RMAS.
The Mayor of Surrey Heath hosted the ceremony with guests including representatives from the Royal British Legion Camberley and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, Local Cadet Corps, the Gurkha Regiment, Surrey Heath Borough Council Councillors and Officers.
