Information about areas of high archaeological potential in Surrey Heath.
Surrey County Council has identified a number of Areas of High Archaeological Potential within Surrey Heath.
Within these areas there is good reason to expect significant finds during any disturbance of the ground. Applicants seeking planning permission are required to undertake a prior assessment of the possible archaeological significance of the site and the implications of their proposals. They may be required to submit a desk based assessment to accompany any application submitted.
More information about the Council’s Areas of high archaeological potential can be found on the archaeology and planning page on the Surrey County Council website (external link).
