The local validation list sets out the information that is normally required to be able to register, assess and determine a planning application.
The Local Validation List provides the national and local requirements you will need to submit in order to ensure that your planning application is made valid and registered. This also provides supporting guidance on the level of information required for each type of application.
If in any doubt about what information needs to be submitted then please contact the Council for advice. Advice on precise requirements for a specific proposal can also be obtained as part of the Council’s pre-application advice service.
From the 6 August 2026 the Government amended the type of development exempt from Biodiversity Net Gain. The self-build or custom build exemption no longer applies for new applications. Excluding householder developments, it remains a requirement that the Council’s Biodiversity Statement template is completed even if you are claiming an exemption. You can find the template and more information on the Biodiversity Net Gain webpage.
