The building that’s been home to a local boxing club for more than 40 years is being sold to the current tenants to allow further investment in the building to be unlocked.
Camberley Boxing Club approached the council in 2025 to purchase the freehold of their premises, and following discussions, terms were agreed. At their latest meeting on 19 May 2026 the council Executive approved the sale of the freehold of the site at Turf Hill Road/Deer Rock Road, Camberley to the club.
Camberley Boxing Club has offered boxing training to the local community for many years, and trained members who have competed at both national and international level.
The purchase of the boxing club building will help provide greater stability for the club, protect its current use and allow the new owner to seek increased funding from external parties because of the change in ownership status and extended length of occupation.
This, in turn, can allow for greater investment into the building and preserve its long-term value and community use.
Through a restrictive covenant in the contract, the purchaser will be obliged to retain the site for physical exercise leisure purposes, to protect its status as a community asset.
Surrey Heath Portfolio Holder for Property and Economic Development Cllr Kel Finan-Cooke said: “Camberley Boxing Club has offered boxing training to the local community for decades, helping to keep people fit and active.
“This sale of the freehold to the club will help preserve the community asset for the long term, while the proceeds will reduce the council’s outstanding debt, and improve its financial position.”
