Camberley Remembrance Parade

The council would like to clarify its involvement in this year's Camberley Remembrance Parade and provide an update on the arrangements for this important community event.

The Remembrance Parade is a community-led event rather than a council-run event. While Surrey Heath Borough Council has provided support in recent years, responsibility for organising and delivering the parade has traditionally sat with the Royal British Legion and the wider organising group.

The council's involvement in supporting the Remembrance Parade increased in recent years in response to capacity challenges faced by the local Royal British Legion branch. This additional support was provided to help maintain the event and ensure it could continue successfully while local arrangements were strengthened.

To support the long-term sustainability of the parade, a committee was established, bringing together representatives from the Royal British Legion and other local community organisations. The council's Chief Executive has volunteered to support the committee, and the council will continue to provide assistance where appropriate and within its available resources.

The council is also holding funds raised through previous Remembrance Parade fundraising activities, which will be used to support this year's event.

We remain committed to supporting the Remembrance Parade and working with partners to ensure this important community event continues to honour those who have served and sacrificed.
