Camberley town centre received £1,480,300 in September 2024 from HM Government through the Brownfield Land Release Fund (BLRF2), part of the One Public Estate Programme.  This funding will support a new residential development on the London Road site, located next to the A30 in the heart of Camberley.  The council will also be making a substantial financial contribution to ensure the preparation works go ahead and a step change in the town is delivered.

The Executive has been asked to approve the commencement of works, including asbestos removal and safely demolish derelict buildings on the site - clearing the way for the site’s future development.

Councillor Kel Finan- Cooke, Portfolio Holder Property & Economic Development, Surrey Heath Borough Council said;

“The London Road Development site has reached a significant milestone with the commencement of these works.  The active development of the site enables the next step of securing a housing developer.

The works are due to start this summer and will complete in 12 months. The area will be surrounded by hoarding whilst the works take place to protect the site and ensure the public’s safety.

We will continue to provide updates as the work progress.”

The marketing for the site will start later this year to secure a development partner to deliver further regeneration and new homes to Camberley.”
