Camberley car parks receive prestigious British Parking Association awards
Surrey Heath Borough Council is proud to announce that Main Square and Knoll Road car parks in Camberley have been awarded the Park Access accolades by the British Parking Association (BPA), following a successful and rigorous assessment. Main Square car park was also awarded the Park Mark Award.
These awards recognise the Council’s ongoing commitment to providing safe, accessible, and inclusive parking facilities for all users.
· Park Access Award: Celebrates car parks that offer accessible and inclusive parking for people with a wide range of needs.
· Park Mark Award: Part of the Safer Parking Scheme, a Police Crime Prevention Initiative that has helped reduce crime in car parks across the UK.
Councillor Alan Ashbery, Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Built Environment and Regulation at Surrey Heath Borough Council, commented:
“Since adopting our new Parking Strategy in 2023, which highlighted the need for investment in our car parks, the Parking Services team has worked tirelessly to improve car parks across the borough. These enhancements have focused on safety, accessibility, and customer experience.
I’m delighted that these efforts have been recognised by the British Parking Association, following their independent assessment. These accreditations reflect our commitment to creating safe and inclusive spaces for all users. We look forward to continuing this work and achieving further accreditations in the months ahead”

About Main Square and Knoll Road Car Parks
Located in the heart of Camberley town centre, Main Square and Knoll Road car parks are multi-storey facilities owned and operated by Surrey Heath Borough Council. They serve residents, shoppers, and visitors, offering a range of parking options including:
- General parking bays
- Permit-only bays
- Designated disabled bays
- Parent and toddler bays
- Staff parking spaces
To support accessibility, disabled and parent/toddler bays are primarily located on the ground floor for ease of access. Recent upgrades have significantly improved safety and operational efficiency, including:
- Installation of an advanced Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system with multimedia displays
- Enhanced CCTV surveillance
- A comprehensive fire safety system
Further improvements are planned over the next three years, including the installation of new lifts to improve access across all levels.
