On Wednesday 24 July 2024, a successful joint operation was conducted in collaboration with Surrey Police, and our Environmental Health and Licensing teams.
During the early evening, 14 premises were tested for underage sales of alcohol, and we are delighted to report that all 14 passed the test. This result underscores the dedication of local businesses to uphold laws that protect our youth and prevent underage drinking.
Following the alcohol sales checks, thorough inspections were carried out on taxi and private hire vehicles operating in the town. Our team confirmed that drivers wore the correct council-issued ID badges and that vehicles had the appropriate vehicle license plates, insurance, road duty, and MOT certificates. Ensuring the safety and compliance of our town's transport services remains a top priority.
Councillor Alan Ashbery, Homes, Planning & Enforcement Portfolio Holder for Surrey Heath Borough Council, expressed his gratitude to all partners and businesses for their cooperation, saying: “The operation focused on preventing underage alcohol sales and ensuring compliance among taxi and private hire vehicles, demonstrating our unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest standards of public safety."
