Severe weather emergency protocol

Information about how we support rough sleeps during severe weather.

Our Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) means emergency accommodation will be provided to people during severe weather. This includes people who have no right to claim benefits or housing in the UK.

The SWEP is activated when the temperature is at zero degrees or below for three nights in a row.

Alongside our partner organisations including The Hope Hub, we will work with anyone provided with SWEP accommodation to help them find settled accommodation and access support services.

Please contact the Housing Team if you are aware of anyone sleeping rough in Surrey Heath.

You can also report people you think are rough sleeping via the Street Link website (external link). Street Link send details to the local authority or outreach service where the person has been seen.
