About the scheme
The Ward Councillor Community Fund Grant Scheme was introduced in October 2020. As of 1 July 2023, each Ward Councillor has a £1500 fund from which they can provide grants to eligible local charities/non-profit groups.
Guidelines
Organisations must be a non-profit group who have a clear list of goals and rules they follow, or be a registered charity or Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO).
Organisations must have a bank account with at least two signatories.
In certain situations where a for-profit organisation is part of the applying group, a maximum of one Ward Councillor Grant will be allowed.
Grants are up to £500 per application, and must go towards purchasing a new resource, or contribute to costs directly related to putting on an event. If the application is for an indirect action such as marketing, then a maximum of one £250 grant is available.
Applications only cover the Surrey Heath area and must provide a clear benefit to Surrey Heath residents.
No event or group may receive more than three Ward Councillor Grants in each financial year, either directly or indirectly.
All mentions of the event or new resource must mention the grant.
Applications cannot be submitted on someone else’s behalf.
These rules cannot cover every possibility or circumstance, and so the decision of SHBC is final.
Please note this grant is for groups only; individual people cannot apply.
Application process
To apply, contact your ward councillor, to talk with them directly how you think we can help your local group. You will then need to complete the ward councillor community fund grant scheme online form.
We cannot accept any application made before talking with a ward councillor.
