This year, as part of the Great Big Green Week, the Blackwater Valley Friends of the Earth have organised a cimate debate. The evening will provide an opportunity to hear from a panel of national and international experts on specific areas linked to the environment and climate change. They will give you an insight into the organisations they work for and the work they do. The audience will have the opportunity to submit questions ahead of the event, and on the night itself. There will also be information about local events, groups, campaigns, and initiatives that you can get involved in. Please email any questions you have, stating whether it is for the whole panel or for an individual on the panel, to bvfoe@btinternet.comIf you’re concerned about climate change and want to hear about practical solutions and ideas about how you can get involved with local, national, and international action then come along and be part of the discussion and part of the solution. Panelists will include Becca Lush, environmental activist with Transport Action Network, Sotez Chowdhury, Director of Communities and Networks for Friends of the Earth UK, Jean Blaylock, Campaigns and Policy Manager at Global Justice Now and Andrew McGill a local climate activist.  Our Chair will be Kathryn Stuart, who is Chair of the Friends of Queen Elizabeth Park in Farnborough. The Friends of Queen Elizabeth Park have worked hard, and with great success, to reduce the impact of the Shell/Exxon pipeline from Southampton to Heathrow on the trees in the park. For further information go to the Blackwater Valley Friends of the Earth website blackwatervalleyfoe.squarespace.com If you would like to come to the debate but the ticket price would be an issue, please contact our coordinator Sarah Wood, at bvfoe@btinternet.com as there will be some free tickets available.
