From the Sites and Monuments Record (SMR) maintained by Surrey County Council, Surrey Heath Borough Council has identified a number of Areas of High Archaeological Potential within the Borough. Within these areas there is good reason to expect significant finds during any disturbance of the ground; as such, applicants seeking Planning Permission within Areas of High Archaeological Potential are required to undertake a prior assessment of the possible archaeological significance of the site and the implications of their proposals, and may be required to submit a desk based assessment to accompany any application submitted.
