VE Day 2021

Friday, 7 May, 2021
Surrey Heath Borough Council is encouraging residents to mark VE Day safely this Saturday, 8 May.
VE Day marked Victory in Europe in World War 2, in 1945.
As with last year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, its anniversary will need to be commemorated in a different way this year, rather than with large social gatherings and public events.
The Mayor of Surrey Heath, Cllr Pat Tedder, said: "Our local area has such a proud military heritage.
“This VE Day we will remember the brave men and women of the Second World War, some of whom never came home.
"We give thanks for the sacrifices they made.
“However you choose to mark VE Day, I would urge everyone to do it in a safe manner, following the current Covid-19 guidance and restrictions."
