Surrey Heath Borough Council (SHBC) officers visited the unauthorised encampment at Burrell Road in Frimley on Tuesday morning - at that time there were 15 caravans on site.
As the group of people at the site failed to engage with officers during the visit SHBC were unable to ascertain the welfare needs of the group. We were made aware of anti-social behaviour and a lack of social distancing at the encampment and the impact this was having on the local community.
For these reasons SHBC appointed an enforcement agent to remove the unauthorised encampment, action which was scheduled to happen today (Thursday 8 April). However, in the interim the group left the site yesterday afternoon.
SHBC officers went to the site again yesterday after it was vacated and assessed the work required to make the site clean and safe. Unfortunately some hazardous waste was left on site. This has now been removed and cleaning of the site is in progress. We'd expect the park to be open again from early afternoon today.
Our contractor will also be reinstating as soon as possible the concrete bollards which were removed at the site.
