Surrey Heath Borough Council is working hard to tackle the issues that matter to residents

Monday, 10 October, 2022

Through our 'Driving Improvement' campaign we are enhancing our work against anti-social behaviour and fly-tipping. The Council is also committed to improving the environment in the Borough, with tree planting an important aspect of this work.

SHBC’s 'Driving Improvement' campaign focuses on these three aspects of life in Surrey Heath. The Council is engaging with local people and working with local partners to tackle problems identified, promote work to protect and enhance the environment, to make Surrey Heath an even better place to live.

Tackling fly-tipping

Last week the Council appealed to the public for information on a fly-tip in Southcote Park.

Cllr Colin Dougan, Portfolio Holder for Environment and Heath said;

“We have been pleased with the response from the public after this appeal for information, and we are following up on information received as a result. Many thanks to everyone who came forward.”

The fly-tip was cleared by our Green Space team the same day it was reported.

If you see a fly-tip you can report it here, email us on or call 01276 707100.

Protecting and enhancing the environment

The Council has planted more than 2,000 trees so far this year improving our biodiversity, green spaces and providing homes to wildlife.

Did you know that as part of an initiative to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s reign and honour Her Majesty that residents, community groups, schools and businesses can get involved? The Queens Green Canopy has been extended to the end of March 2023. More information is available via

There is an interactive map showing the numbers of trees that have been planted as part of this initiative - as the local authority area with the highest percentage of tree cover in the country, we’d love to see more trees on the map for Surrey Heath.
