Surrey Heath Borough Council donates refurbished PCs to local families, schools and young job seekers

SHBC has refurbished and cleaned over 100 PCs for local families and schools in need of computer equipment.   As well as enabling the families to access digital tools and the internet, the PCs will enable children to access their online school work.

We have also supplied PCs to young people identified by The Workshop.  The Workshop supports young people aged 18 to 24 into work and PCs have been allocated to registered clients of The Workshop who have demonstrated a need for I.T equipment.  These will help the recipients enormously as they prepare their CV and conduct job searches and research online.

Cllr Shaun Garrett, Economic Development & Transformation Portfolio Holder said;

“This is a brilliant initiative from SHBC and many thanks to the staff involved.  By recycling and repurposing the Council’s IT equipment we are supporting families in need across the borough and also young people as they take their first steps into work.  We hope the equipment provided will provide great benefits to local families and clients of The Workshop.”

The PCs are supplied as ready-to-go kits with all cables, a new Windows license, screen, keyboard and mouse and a new Wifi card.

To date PC’s have been donated to schools and organisations across the Borough, local partner organisations and resettled families, including a Ukrainian family so their children can join online lessons.
