SHBC & Joint Waste Solutions statement regarding planned strike action for bin collections

Thursday, 31 October, 2019
We have been informed that strike action by Amey employees working on the waste collection service in Elmbridge and Surrey Heath who are GMB union members is planned for four dates:
Tuesday 5 November
Wednesday 6 November
Tuesday 19 November
Wednesday 20 November
We are doing everything possible to help Amey to mitigate the strike action and minimise any disruption to the service if it goes ahead.
Residents should put their bin(s) out as normal during this period.
If they are not emptied on their usual day residents should leave them out and they will be emptied as soon as possible, with refuse and food waste prioritised first, then recycling including textiles and electricals, and then garden waste.
We are writing to all residents who will be impacted to make sure they are aware. But, as with any situation like this, things can change.
So, we would encourage residents to continue to check the Joint Waste Solutions website  for the most current information. And to share any updated information with neighbours who are not online.
We hope it will be possible to minimise the impact on the service residents receive and regret any inconvenience this may cause.
