SHBC Executive meeting 25 January 2022

Date:

Monday, 17 January, 2022
Surrey Heath Borough Council's next meeting of the Executive Committee will take place on Tuesday 25 January at 6pm.

Leader of SHBC Cllr Alan McClafferty said: "There are a number of reports that will be discussed by Councillors at the meeting of the Executive next week. Balancing our commitments, priorities and budgets to ensure growth for the Borough and support for our communities has never been more challenging.

"We're committed to delivering on our promises for the environment, protecting essential services, improving the health and wellbeing of residents and building on the fantastic community spirit shown throughout the pandemic as many community groups, charities and businesses recover from the last two years.

"The reduction in central government funding for local authorities and the changing landscape brought about by Covid-19 makes some decisions particularly difficult."

Members of the Executive will decide on a number of recommendations including funding for a number of organisations and groups across the Borough, a physical activity strategy designed to improve the health and wellbeing of all residents, and to review car parking charges for all council-owned car parks.

Cllr McClafferty said: "Car parking charges haven't been increased since 2009 in many parts of the Borough yet maintenance of car parks, the safety of customers, reducing our environmental impact, inflationary pressures and the payment of business rates have brought about significant increases to running costs - money which can't then contribute to other services. Now that Members have had more time to consider the options I look forward to hearing views from across the Chamber on Tuesday."
