Club Dean, our new free multi-sports evening for 11-16 year-olds, launched on Tuesday 15 November - and dozens of local young people turned up for the first session to find out what was on offer.
Supported by Surrey Heath Borough Council and Our Time Youth Agency, with funding from the National Lottery, Sport England, Active Surrey, Surrey County Council and Old Dean Community Group, the club offers somewhere that young people can socialise and be active in a warm, dry and safe place.
The club is staffed by Our Time Youth Agency youth workers, alongside local volunteers.
Every Tuesday from 6-8pm during term time, a weekly timetable of activities will be based on demand from those attending, and can include activities such as football, basketball, arts and crafts, badminton, dance, fitness and dodgeball, alongside the cafe and chill out zone.
No booking is needed, young people can just come along to the club at Surrey Heath Young People and Family Centre on Kingston Road in Camberley.
Surrey Heath Portfolio Holder for Leisure, Culture and Community, Cllr Rebecca Jennings-Evans said: "I'm thrilled that this valuable project has successfully launched, through the hard work of all the partner organisations involved.
“I want to say a huge thank you to the volunteers who have given their time to make #ClubDean possible - you really are making a difference to young people's lives."
