Our popular free Christmas tree recycling scheme will be back again this festive season.
An amazing total of almost 1,400 trees were dropped off at our recycling points in January 2020, helping to make our Greenspace team leader Steve smile from ear to ear!
The face of our real Christmas tree recycling scheme is hoping for an even bigger number of trees to be collected this time around – so bring your trees to one of our 15 recycling points from 4-17 January and help #MakeSteveSmile!
Once collected, the trees will be chipped, with the woodchips used to top up paths in our beautiful parks and green spaces. Last year many of the Christmas tree chippings ended up on the main path into Windlemere SANG, which looked great and smelt fabulous!
Surrey Heath Portfolio Holder for Places and Strategy, Cllr Rebecca Jennings-Evans, said: “We are delighted to be offering this environmentally-friendly scheme again this year.
“It has been really popular with residents the past few years, and by recycling the woodchips for use in our parks and greenspaces, we all benefit.
“Bring your real Christmas trees along to the drop-off points in the new year, and do your bit to Make Steve Smile!”
Please adhere to social distancing guidance while dropping off your trees.
