“After a horrible year to win this jackpot is unbelievable and an amazing early Christmas present!
She added: “I support Home-Start Surrey Heath via the Lottery as I appreciate the good work they do in the local community. I know they're constantly striving to raise funds to carry out their work of supporting families in Surrey Heath.
“I would urge everyone to sign up to the Surrey Heath Lottery as not only are you supporting a charity in the local community that means a lot to you, you've also got the chance of winning the jackpot like I have - which I honestly still can't believe.
“Thank you to Surrey Heath Borough Council for starting this lottery - what a fantastic idea.”
Home Start Surrey Heath logoStephnie Waight, Scheme Manager at Home-Start Surrey Heath, said: “To hear about this big win by one of our supporters is such wonderful, positive news in what has been such a horrible year for us all - the pandemic has been hard for all everyone, but it’s been toughest on those families already facing challenges around mental health, low incomes, and other challenges in their lives.
“Home-Start Surrey Heath have been there for families when they’ve needed support most. We’ve been been supporting families in Surrey Heath since 1989 through our team of expert support and trained, parent, home visiting volunteers.
“We have moved essential support services online for the moment, to stay connected with families - providing emotional and practical support, and linking families into other community services such as their local foodbanks.
“We have seen social distancing and isolation placing enormous strain on families. This win by one of our supporters, and being part of the Surrey Heath Lottery comes at a time when we're all asking for kindness in our communities during the pandemic.
“I think it's a must for local causes to join the Lottery. It's really easy to sign up, doesn't cost us anything, and we're currently raising around £780 per year from our generous supporters.
“The funds we raise through the Surrey Heath Lottery go towards our core service - volunteers visiting families who are going through a stressful time, to make sure that they have the support they need.
“We’d like to give a huge thank you to Surrey Heath Lottery and SHBC for the opportunity to register as a good cause, and for providing us with this regular income. Thank you also to all our current supporters - and finally an amazing round of applause from us all to the winner. We're delighted for you and delighted that you continue to support Home-Start Surrey Heath with your weekly Lottery ticket.”
Surrey Heath Portfolio Holder for Support and Safeguarding, Cllr Josephine Hawkins said: “Many congratulations to the lucky winner of the jackpot prize of £25,000 in our Surrey Heath Lottery – it's amazing news.
“I’m so pleased that someone who has joined the lottery to support a local good cause has ended up winning such a fantastic prize. What a great Christmas present!
