The GMB union are currently taking strike action in Surrey Heath. This has arisen from a dispute between the GMB and the waste contractor Amey over pay.
The union has confirmed that they intend to continue their strike action until 19 August.
Police were again present at the depot this morning, and bin crews have set off on their rounds on time today.
Although the strike action is resulting in fewer staff being available to work, the crews are still managing to collect clinical waste, and the vast majority of food waste and residual waste bins as the priority. However, the dry mixed recycling and garden waste are unlikely to be collected today.
Please continue to leave your bins out and report missed collections via the JWS website if you are able to do so.
A Saturday catch up round is planned for any missed clinical waste, food waste and residual waste bins.
Residents may wish to take uncollected waste and recycling to their nearest Community Recycling Centre - there are sites at Wilton Road, Camberley and Swift Lane, Bagshot. You can find more information at Surrey County Council's Community Recycling Centre webpages.
Additional advice about what to do with your waste and recycling during the strike and answers to common questions can be found on the JWS website
We continue to work hard with our partners to deal with this challenging situation, and thank you for your understanding.
