A special flag raising event took place on 9 September 2021 on the front lawn at Surrey Heath House for 999 Emergency Services Day. The event was attended by The Mayor of Surrey Heath, Cllr Sarah Jane Croke, SHBC Leader, Cllr Alan McClafferty and Surrey Heath Police Borough Commander, Alick James.
The 999 Emergency Services Day is an opportunity to show support for our selfless NHS and emergency services heroes.
The Mayor invited a special guest to the event, Mr Walther, a local resident in Frimley who before he retired was a Policeman. He was on duty for Churchill’s Funeral and also for Lady Diana’s funeral. (He was based up in London not in our Borough). He was extremely touched and proud to be there today with us for the first ever raising of this flag and celebrating our 999 Emergency Services.
It was founded in 2016 and is a national day across the UK, supported by Her Majesty The Queen, HRH The Prince of Wales, HRH Duke of Cambridge, the Prime Minister and First Ministers of Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
