What is KML or XML?
XML stands for Extensible Markup Language. It allows information to be shared between computer systems in a structured format. It is the standard means of providing datasets for re-use by other individuals or organisations.
KML is a form of XML which is used to provide geo-spatial mapping data.
The KML and KMZ files can be opened by Google Earth or in Google Maps by copying and pasting the URL into the search box or they can be saved and then opened as XML. This KML data is free of Ordnance Survey licence restrictions.
