The inhalation of asbestos can cause four serious diseases which, once diagnosed, are often fatal.

  • Mesothelioma
  • Asbestos-related lung cancer
  • Asbestosis
  • Pleural thickening

The inhalation of these fibres are responsible for around 4000 deaths per year.

There is no 'Safe Level'!

Therefore, employers have a duty to manage asbestos within premises'. This does not mean that all asbestos has to be removed but it must be monitored if in good condition and removed by a suitable contactor should it present a hazard.
