Surrey Heath Borough Council are delighted that several independent businesses within The Square shopping centre have recently renewed their leases demonstrating their commitment to trading in Camberley.

Lease terms have been renewed with the following retailers: -

  • Craft Coop
  • Mulberry Recruitment
  • Willow & Nutmeg
  • Tivoli Interior Designs

The Cake Box, Calma Café and Tehran Station have also recently celebrated their first birthdays trading in Camberley.

Councillor Kel Finan-Cooke, Portfolio Holder for Economic and Income Development, Surrey Heath Borough Council said; “Many thanks to everyone who supports these wonderful businesses which are a key part of what makes the town centre unique and a great place to visit.

Over half the stores in the town centre are independents and we’d love to see more of them. So, if you are thinking of opening a business do get in touch with the team by emailing economic.development@surreyheath.gov.uk.”

The owner of Willow and Nutmeg commented;  “The reason we have decided to renew our lease and stay at The Square is we are building a really loyal clientele and we like being a part of The Square community.

“The management team at The Square have supported us so much in our first two years trading at 7 Prince of Wales Walk. From opening my eyes to all the hidden costs of running a retail business to offering support in marketing. They have also supported us with the events that we have run in store and also invited us to take part in all the events that The Square arranges. There is always someone available at the end of an email ready to offer help and support.  All the staff in the shopping centre are so kind and helpful along with all the retailers. Camberley residents really like independent businesses and are so loyal.

“Knowing that we are part of a shopping centre gives us extra piece of mind from a security point of view too. Overall, we feel looked after, supported and look forward to continuing to develop and grow our young business despite the difficult economic times.”

The team at Craft Coop added;  “We have recently decided to renew our shop lease in Camberley and there are several reasons why we have chosen to stay in The Square.

“Firstly, our shop is filled with handmade products and provides a selling outlet for local small businesses that we are incredibly proud of and we have built a strong following of loyal customers who appreciate and support the community.

“We also have a dedicated space for children’s activities and workshops, which has become a hub for families in the area. This sense of community engagement is essential to us, and we are constantly working with local charities and organisations to give back and make a positive impact.

“Additionally, we have received valued support from the local business community, Surrey Heath Borough Council and of course The Square, which has made us feel welcomed and valued as a social enterprise.

“Overall, Camberley has become more than just a location for our shop – although we see ourselves a unique gift shop with a social mission – more than that it’s a place, where we can truly make a difference and connect with the wonderful people who enjoy spending time in The Square.”
