Independent Living accommodation, sometimes called sheltered housing, is aimed at people over 60.
Independent Living accommodation is also known as sheltered housing. It is for people over 60 years old.
It allows people to live independently within their own home with access to onsite support if they need it.
Most accommodation will provide:
The scheme manager keeps in regular contact with residents. They check in each day and help out in an emergency. They may consult with the resident's family and with other organisations to make sure that the correct support is provided.
You can still apply for services such as Meals at Home and help with bathing if you live in independent living accommodation.
Independent Living schemes in Surrey Heath are open to people aged over 60. You can be a single person or in a couple. Before you move in, we will discuss any support you need. This will allow us to make sure everything is in place when you arrive.
There are eight schemes in Surrey Heath. Six are owned by Accent Housing and two are owned by Anchor Hanover Group.
To be considered for Independent Living accommodation, you will need to join our Housing Register.
