Directgov Kids
The Directgovkids website Opens in a new window is aimed for 5 to 11 year olds and is designed to teach children about people and places in their local community.
Children can find out what goes on inside a police station, where the food in your supermarket comes from and how local government affect your everyday life. They can also learn about staying safe, keeping fit and healthy, caring for animals and the environment, voting and democracy and the importance of good behaviour.
There are a range of resources to choose from, including games, animations, fact files, slide shows and video clips.
The website also has a glossary section and designated areas for both parents and teachers.
