Parking Legally
Where will I be able to park?
The 'pay on foot' car parks operated by the Council will continue operating as they do at the present.
Single and double yellow lines, residents' parking areas and limited waiting areas on-street are patrolled more effectively than in the past.
If you park legally there will be no change. If you park illegally, you are more likely to receive a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) as the level of enforcement has been increased.
Parking Restrictions
These indicate that a waiting restriction applies at that place for a period of less than 24 hours in a day. The times when the restriction applies will also be indicated by a Time Plate, fixed on a pole or nearby building, which shows the operating times when waiting is prohibited outside a Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ). Within a CPZ, unless signed separately, yellow line restrictions operate at identical times to the CPZ controls, as shown on the Zone entry sign (see signs below).
Double Yellow Lines
These indicate that waiting at the location is prohibited at any time.
Loading Restrictions
Vehicles may load/unload goods to or from and adjacent building while waiting on a
single yellow line, providing a loading restriction does not apply at that location. This will be indicated by yellow kerb markings, one or more depending on whether the restriction is for part or all of the day, and a supporting time plate.
Loading or unloading may also take place from a parking bay, unless the bay has been taken out of service (suspended) for some reason. A vehicle must not wait where it would endanger or inconvenience pedestrians or other road users.
Parking Attendants will carry out a short period of constant observation to see if loading or unloading is taking place. If none is seen a Penalty Charge Notice will then be issued.
Penalty Charge Notices
A Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) will be issued where a parking contravention has been committed. The Parking Attendants will look out for motorists who ignore parking restrictions such as:
- Parking on double or single yellow lines
- Parking in designated residents' parking areas without a permit
- Parking in limited waiting areas for longer than specified
- Parking outside of a marked bay in limited waiting areas
- Parking in disabled bays without a disabled badge
- Parking on a taxi rank or bus stop
- Failing to 'pay and display' in an off-street car park
- Parking outside of a marked bay in an off-street car park
If you receive a PCN do not ignore it, it will not go away! .
Controlled Parking Zones (CPZs)
These are geographically defined areas within which all lengths of kerbside are subject to a waiting restriction. Camberley Town Centre is subject to a CPZ. Yellow lines or designated parking bays indicate where parking is prohibited or permitted during the CPZ operating hours and the times when the restrictions apply are on the CPZ entry signs on the way into the zone. View more information on Controlled Parking Zones and Special Parking Areas.
Therefore, because a common restriction applies there will not necessarily be individual Time Plates in place throughout the zone. The exception to this occurs when a different restriction is in place in a particular location within the CPZ and then a supporting Time Plate will be displayed showing when the restriction operates.
Outside of the CPZ operating times, parking can take place on a single yellow line or in a bay without payment although drivers should not park where it would endanger or inconvenience pedestrians or other road users.
Residents' Parking Schemes
Click for information on Resident's parking schemes which have been introduced in areas where there is increasing competition for on-street parking spaces and where local residents have limited off-street parking facilities of their own. The Council will provide increased enforcement and action against non-permit holders, reducing abuse of residents' parking areas resulting in increased availability spaces for residents.
How will Blue Badge holders be affected?
Motorists displaying a Blue Badge will notice no changes. On-street parking concessions that existed previously under the Blue Badge Scheme will continue. All that has changed is that On-street parking enforcement is now undertaken by Civil Enforcement Officers employed by Surrey Heath Borough Council.
Please note, motorists displaying a Blue Badge will only be allowed a maximum of three hours waiting in these spaces. Please ensure your Blue Badge and Parking Clock are displayed in accordance with the Blue Badge Scheme Regulations.
