The Camberley Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) was introduced in August 1999.
What is a Controlled Parking Zone?
A Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) is an area extensively covered with yellow line restrictions and parking places. A CPZ also forms part of a policy covering parking both 'on street' and within the Council's Car Parks.
The objectives of the Camberley CPZ:
- avoiding danger to other road users from parked vehicles.
- providing adequate passage for all road users, relative to the type of road.
- regulating parking of vehicles, and
- ensuring a fair distribution of suitable on-street space within the various competing demands.
How do parking controls help?
There is a high demand for parking in Camberley which in some cases exceeds available space. By the introduction of parking controls the Council can ensure a fair distribution of on-street space based on the various demands. Controlling parking will also stop parking at dangerous and obstructive locations. One of the implications of introducing parking controls is that some parking might be displaced into streets outside the CPZ.
Controlled Parking Zones
The area covered by the CPZ is shown below.

The hours of control will be 8.00 am to 6.00 pm Monday to Saturday. Within the CPZ, parking will either be unlimited or subject to a maximum 2 hours or 30 minutes stay. All parking remains free of charge.
Who enforces the restrictions?
The parking places will be enforced by the Surrey Heath Borough Council.
When was it introduced?
The CPZ was intrdouced in 1999 and amended in 2002.
Residents permit scheme
Some residents within the Controlled Parking Zone are entitled to apply for residents permits which exempts them from the 'time limited' parking places in their roads. Residential eligibility criteria is applied to all applications. The Council annually considers the residents eligible under the scheme. Download full details and an application form.
Disabled Parking
The existing disabled parking areas within the town remain unchanged. Additional disabled spaces will be provided in Park Street.
