During the Parking Service Best Value Review in 2000 a survey of the public showed that a user friendly easy to use parking system was required. To meet this aim the Council introduced Pay on Foot parking systems in the Main Square and Knoll Road Car Parks on 1st April 2003. Main Square Multi Storey Car Park received the Safer Parking Award in April 2008

Facilities include:

Barrier entry & exit
Pay before returning to vehicle
Change provided at machines
Charging for blue badge holders in Pay on Foot car parks
1 hour parking available
In Knoll Road Pay on Foot surface level parking available (except for Season Ticket holders)
Intercom between all machines and Help Point
Season Tickets available

How to use the Pay on Foot paying machines

On Arrival:
Stop at the barrier, take a ticket and park your car.

Payments
It is a good idea to amke sure you have the correct change to make payment before exiting the car park.

On Leaving:
Insert your ticket in a Pay Station and pay. Take back your ticket and drive to the barrier. Insert your ticket and the barrier will lift for you to exit.
