Green Flag Award

Green Flag 2013Lucky 13 for Frimley Lodge Park

Frimley Lodge Park has been awarded the Green Flag award for the 13th year in a row, cementing its status as one of the best open spaces in the country.

The park, owned and maintained by Surrey Heath Borough Council, is a 24 hectare site and attracts a large number of visitors with its vast open spaces, picnic areas, Pistachios in the Park café, pitch and putt course, two children's playgrounds, miniature railway and barbecue and private hire areas. The space includes areas of unspoilt woodland and meadows located alongside the Basingstoke Canal.

Green Flag is the national award for public and community parks created to recognise well-managed, high-quality green spaces.

Surrey Heath's portfolio holder for green spaces Cllr Craig Fennel said: "To win this award for the 13th year running is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our Greenspace team and contractors Glendale who ensure the park looks great for our many visitors.
"With so much to see and do at Frimley Lodge Park, it is no wonder so many people enjoy coming here. Long may the awards keep coming!"

This year, the park has welcomed an open air theatre for the first time with two productions by Quantum Theatre.

The park also houses the Flourish Community Garden which created the silver winning show garden "A Moveable Feast" at this year's Hampton Court Flower Show.
