Green Flag Award
2012 Green Flag Award for Frimley Lodge Park Frimley Lodge Park has been awarded a prestigious Green Flag Award for the 12th consecutive year for its high-quality standards, cleanliness, upkeep and facilities.
The park in Sturt Road, Frimley Green has been given the award by environmental group Keep Britain Tidy.
The Green Flag Award scheme is the national standard in England and Wales for quality parks and open spaces. Successful parks are judged to be welcoming, well managed and maintained, with support and involvement from the local community.
Surrey Heath Borough Council owns and maintains the popular park, which boasts 59 acres of open green space, including areas of unspoilt woodland and meadows located alongside the Basingstoke Canal.
Residents use the park for a variety of recreational activities based around the two children's playgrounds, a challenging trim trail, picnic areas and a picturesque miniature railway. For sporty visitors, Frimley Lodge Park is home to a pitch-and-putt golf course and football, rugby and cricket pitches.
The Green Flag Award is presented to the most impressive green spaces in England and Wales to acknowledge their high environmental standards. Frimley Lodge's reputation as a high-quality park is confirmed on a national scale by the presence of the Green Flag.
