Private Hire Licences Hackney Carriage - Operators Licence

Hackney Carriage Licences are required for vehicles applying for hire as taxis from taxi ranks or being hailed in public places. The driver must hold a taxi driver licence and taxis may be used to take private hirings.

Private Hire Licences are required for vehicles with a driver booked by telephone or through an office. The driver must hold a private hire driver licence. These vehicles are not allowed to ply for hire in public places.

Operators Licences are required by people operating a taxis or private hire vehicles who advertise for and take private hirings.
