Search Tips

If you are searching for specific information, you can use the keyword facility to look at any entry on this website - simply type in the words you want and click Search.
Results are grouped to show for example all Web Pages together and then all Documents, you can narrow down the search by category as listed at the top of the search page.
Many sections of the site have their own search function, which may be easier than searching whole site.
All parts of an item are searched, including most attachments.
Ways to improve the results of a search
- Quotes(")
If you are searching for a specific phrase, enclose the phrase in quotes (e.g. "car parks") to ensure the search only looks for 'car parks' and not for 'car' and 'parks'.
- Wildcard (*)
Use * at the end of a word to get results using all variants of the word, e.g. test* will list items that contain any one of:test, tests, testing, tested.
- AND, OR, NOT
Use to join or separate words in the same section of an itemor page (e.g. words in the title, or words in the page content),e.g. Dog OR Cat will return results containing either Dog or Cat,or both. Dog AND Cat will return only results containing both Dog and Cat.
- NEAR
Use if you want to obtain results with your keywords within a few words of each other in the same section of an item or page, but you are not sure of the exact phrase used, e.g. Surrey Heath NEAR Council will return items containing "Surrey Heath Borough Council" and "Surrey Heath Council", but not one with Surrey Heath in the first sentence, and Council at the bottom of the page.
