Only loose, acceptable items should be put in the recycling bin - please refer to the lid of your recycling bin
In order to reduce the volume of unacceptable materials in the recycling stream and to ensure residents are correctly separating their waste, we have introduced the following measures.
If you get it wrong, you should receive one of the following notifications from your collection crew. The Notifications list the main areas of unacceptable content but there are many others so it is important that you only put in items that are listed on the lid of your recycling bin.
Yellow Notification -
This is used where the level of unsuitable content is minor or recyclable items have been bagged. The bin will be emptied on this occasion but may not be emptied in future if the problem continues.
Red Notification -
This is used where the level of unsuitable content is high or Yellow Notifications have already been issued. In this case, the unacceptable content will prevent the bin from being emptied. It is then the responsibility of the resident to remove and responsibly dispose of the content - this may mean taking it to the nearest Household Waste Centre.
