The Self Build and Custom Housebuilding Act 2015 introduced new duties on local authorities to keep, and have regard to, registers of individuals and community groups seeking land for the purposes of self or custom housebuilding. From 1st April 2016 it is a requirement under the Self-build and Custom Housebuilding Regulations 2016 for local authorities to maintain a register of people and groups interested in building their own homes within an authority’s local area. This register will help determine the demand for self-build and custom housebuilding in Surrey Heath.
