Statement of Community Involvement

Statement of Community Involvement document coverThe Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) is the Councils' commitment to consulting the community on planning issues including the LDF and planning applications.

The Council first adopted a Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) in February 2006. Since this document was adopted, there have been a number of amendments to both the Town and Country Planning (Local Development) (England) Regulations 2004 (as amended) and Corporate Documents to which the SCI has regard. This has resulted in the document becoming outdated. Subsequently, the document has been revisited and updated to take account of these changes.

Consultation
A revised draft version of the SCI (see below) was consulted on for 6 weeks between Monday 6th February and Monday 19th March 2012. This version of the document was approved by Executive for consultation prior to the enactment of the Localism Act and the introduction of the new Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012. The Council will be making amendments to the document to reflect new legislation, particularly in respect of the new 'duty to co-operate' and will seek to integrate these additions into a revised version of the document prior to adoption in Spring 2012.

Information relating to the 2006 version of the Document
The Council submitted the SCI to The First Secretary of State in March 2005. The closing date for representations was Friday 13th May.

The report of the Planning Inspector was received on 10th December and this required the Council to make a number of changes to the Statement of Community Involvement.

The revised SCI was approved for adoption by the Executive in February 2006.
