Core Strategy and Development Management Policies

The Core Strategy and Development Management Policies Development Plan Document (the Core Strategy) is the key document in the emerging new Surrey Heath Plan. It sets out the key policies that will be used to determine the location, amount, type and timing of new development within the Borough in the period up to 2028. The Council adopted the Core Strategy on 1st February 2012 and it now forms part of the Development Plan for the Borough. The Borough Council has also provided a guidance note for applicants on how to interpret its affordable housing policies (CP5 and CP6).

Note: Changes to the Proposals Map
Following the adoption of the Core Strategy on the 1st February 2012, the Proposals Map is being amended. A revised map is being prepared. In the meantime please see Appendix 2 of the Core Strategy for details of changes to the Local Plan Proposals Map. If you have any questions please contact the Planning Policy and Conservation Team on 01276 707222 or e-mail us on planning.policy@surreyheath.gov.uk.

The Core Strategy will be supported by a series of documents in particular:

The Council submitted the Core Strategy to the Secretary of State in October 2010. An independent Inspector considered the soundness of this document at a public hearing in February 2011 and at a resumed hearing in November 2011. The Inspectors Report was received on 4th January 2012 and subject to some changes found the Core Strategy to be sound. The full Inspectors Report can be seen on the Examination page.
