The Guidance Note provides advice on how the Borough Council will deal with development proposals which may affect archaeological remains.

The Guidance covers 4 broad themes:

  • Explains the policy background of archaeology and planning.
  • Identifies areas of the Borough where archaeological remains are known to exist or may exist.
  • Advises developers of the information that should be submitted with development proposals where archaeological remains may exist.
  • Give examples of conditions that may be applied to planning decisions to protect and record archaeological remains
