Diagram showing the Development Control servicesThe Planning Service aims to carry forward the corporate aims of the Council as a whole seeking a safe, green and clean environment.

Our overall objective is to protect both the countryside and green spaces within settlements as well as enhance the quality of building and landscape design, including recognising the importance of open space and heathland. Within the Planning and Community Services directorate the Planning Service at Surrey Heath is split into two main functions supported by an administration team:

Planning Policy and Conservation

Produces the long-term policies for control of development in the Borough, Surrey Heath Local Plan 2000, supplementary planning guidance, conservation, economic development and research.

Development Control Division

Determines over 1300 planning applications per year, development advice, permitted development enquiries, appeals, enforcement of planning control, protected trees and searches.
