Dangerous Structures and Demolition

When buildings or other structures become dangerous, e.g. as a result of accidental damage, the Surveyors undertake inspections and advise on the remedial measures necessary to make the building or structure safe. In circumstances of extreme danger, the legislative power exists to take immediate action to remove the danger and recover the cost from the building owner.

When buildings are demolished, the Surveyors are responsible for ensuring that all relevant services such as drainage are effectively disconnected, abutting adjacent buildings are protected and the site is sealed whilst the works are in progress.
