Duty Officer

Due to staff vacancies, the Council has temporarily suspended its pre-application advice service. We apologise for any inconvenience and will reinstate the service as soon as possible.

In addition, and in view of the extent of the changes to the 'Permitted Development' regime, the Council will not be able to respond to letters or provide written advice as to whether planning permission is required for a development proposal. If you wish to gain a formal decision as to whether or not planning permission is required you will need to submit an application for a Certificate of Lawful Development. There is a fee for this service. Please check the following page for details:

The Duty Officer service has currently changed its priorities and is now only available 3 days a week. This service is currently free to assist homeowners with their enquiries in relation to extensions and other works to their properties. In many cases, unless very straightforward, it will be suggested that written advice should also be obtained.

  • Please see the further information on this service before visiting the Council Offices to see what is covered by the service and what information you need to bring with you.
