What is the Housing Needs Development Plan Document (DPD)?
The Housing Needs Development Plan Document (DPD) will form part of the Local Development Framework for Surrey Heath and will set out policies for addressing housing need.

The DPD will address issues such as affordable housing, the size of dwellings, housing for older people and people with disabilities, housing for key workers such as teachers and nurses, and accommodation for Travelling Showpeople, Gypsies and Travellers.

Housing Needs DPD Preferred Options

A Preferred Options Paper has been prepared which sets out the Council's preferred approaches to addressing housing needs within the Borough. The Paper is accompanied by a Sustainability Appraisal/ Strategic Environmental Assessment (SA/SEA) Report which sets out the predicted sustainability implications of each of the Preferred Options.

We consulted on the Housing Needs DPD Preferred Options Paper and SA/SEA Report between Monday 20th August to Monday 1st October. The documents are available by clicking on the links below:

Responses to this consultation will be analysed and will inform the submission version of the Housing Needs DPD and Final SA/SEA Report.

Housing Needs DPD Options Public Participation

A public participation exercise on the Housing Needs Options Paper and Sustainability Appraisal/ Strategic Environmental Assessment (SA/SEA) Progress Repor took place between Monday 29th January and Monday 12th March 2007.

The Options Paper set out the alternative approaches to addressing housing needs in the Borough. The SA/SEA Progress Report set out the predicted sustainability implications of each of the alternative options and provided broad guidance on the most sustainable options.

Responses to this consultation and the findings of the SA/SEA Progress Report helped to guide the development and choice of Preferred Options.

Housing Needs DPD Issues and Options Consultation

A public participation exercise on the Housing Needs Issues and Options Paper, SA/SEA Progress Report and Revised Scoping Report took place between Monday 4th September and Monday 16th October 2006.

The Issues and Options Paper set out a series of issues and questions relating to addressing housing need in the Borough. Options were formulated for the purpose of producing the SA/SEA Progress Report which documented their sustainability implications and provided broad guidance on the most sustainable options. In addition, the Scoping report was revised to take account of comments to the previous consultation.
