What is the Camberley Town Centre Area Action Plan (AAP)?
The Camberley Town Centre AAP will form part of the Local Development Framework for Surrey Heath and will set out policies relating to the future development of Camberley Town Centre.
The Area Action Plan will look at:
- A vision of how Camberley Town Centre should evolve.
- The scale and location of new shopping facilities.
- Managing the town centre to enable the full range of shopping facilities to be provided.
- The range of leisure, cultural and community facilities in the town centre.
- The level and location of employment uses such as offices in the town centre.
- The level and location of housing in the town centre.
- Improving transportation to and around the town centre.
- Enhancing and protecting the environmental design quality of the town centre.
Camberley Town Centre AAP Preferred Options Public Consultation
A Preferred Options Paper has been prepared which sets out the Council's preferred approaches to the development of Camberley Town Centre. The Paper is accompanied by a Sustainability Appraisal/ Strategic Environmental Assessment (SA/SEA) Report which sets out the predicted sustainability implications of each of the Preferred Options.
The Camberley Town Centre Area Action Plan (AAP) Preferred Options Paper and SA/SEA Report were consulted on Monday 21st April to Monday 2nd June 2008. The documents are available by clicking on the links below:

An exhibition about the Area Action Plan was held in The Square, The Mall, Camberley between Monday 21 April and Sunday 4 May. The link below gives the information provided in the exhibition and is also a useful summary of the main points in the Area Action Plan.

Camberley Town Centre AAP Options Public Consultation
The Council held a public participation exercise on the Camberley Town Centre Area Action Plan - Options Paper, which ran from Monday 12th March to Monday 23rd April 2007.
The options were appraised to document their sustainability implications and this is recorded within the Sustainability Appraisal/ Strategic Environmental Assessment (SA/SEA) Progress Report.

Camberley Town Centre AAP Issues and Options Consultation
A public participation exercise on the Camberley Town Centre AAP Issues and Options Paper took place between 6th November and 8th January 2007.
Two versions of the Paper were produced, a brief version and a full version.

Camberley Town Centre SA/SEA Scoping Report
The Scoping Report is the first stage in the SA/SEA process of producing the AAP. The report sets the context of the AAP by:
- Identifying other plans, policies and programmes that may influence the content of the AAP.
- Gathering relevant baseline information to inform the AAP.
- Identifying issues and problems that need to be addressed when producing the AAP.
- Developing a framework for appraising the AAP to identify the key sustainability effects.
- A consultation was carried out on the SA Scoping Report for the Camberley Town Centre AAP between 31st July and 4th September 2006.

Next Stages
Responses received to the Camberley Town Centre Options consultation and the SA/SEA Progress Report will be analysed and help us to develop a Preferred Options Paper and a SA/SEA Report which will be published for consultation later in the year.

The Local Development Scheme (LDS) sets out a timetable for the production of the AAP and can be viewed via the link below.
The LDS is currently under review. The intended date of future stages of the AAP including the Preferred Options stage will be stated on this webpage once the revised LDS is approved.
