What is the Core Strategy?
The Core Strategy identifies the key elements of the planning framework for Surrey Heath for the period up to 2026. The Core Strategy sets out a vision and objectives, the preferred broad policies for achieving these and the alternative policy approaches considered. Policies are underpinned by the principles set out in the national Planning Policy Statements and Guidance Notes together with their supporting guidance and other circulars and legislation as appropriate. The Core Strategy includes a monitoring framework which identifies the targets to be met for achieving the strategy and its objectives.

Update
As a result of the continuing inability of the Council to deliver new housing because of the risk of harm to the heathland caused by increased demand for recreation the core strategy continues.
The Council is reviewing the Local Development Scheme in light of the delay and the forthcoming changes to the Development Plan Regulations.
