Finding your feet: beginners walks

Walks programme aimed at those with long terms health conditions.

The finding your feet walks programme is organised by Surrey Heath Borough Council in partnership with Frimley NHS and HCRG Care Group. It aims to support local people looking to improve fitness and manage a long-term health condition. The walks are beginner friendly and led by experienced walk leaders.  

The walks aim to steadily improve health and fitness. The group has regular guest speakers from local health services to help increase confidence in managing their health. Topics include managing diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), quitting smoking, good sleep, cancer,  winter wellness and flu.

Some of the benefits that you can expect to gain from the walks are: 

  • helps mental health 
  • helps your fitness  
  • make friends with people who are also living with diabetes 
  • a better understanding of type two diabetes 
  • gain confidence in managing and bettering your health 
  • motivation to continue regular exercise 
  • find out about other activities where you can exercise and meet new people 
  • feel supported by a group of likeminded local people
